St Mogue's Rural Community Centre
Childcare Ethos
Mission Statement
To provide a caring, creative, and educational, community-based childcare facility.
For each child to play and learn in a secure environment that promotes their holistic development.
Our Ethos
The early years environment provided at St Mogue’s Community Childcare is one that nurtures and supports the holistic development and learning of each child. Guiding our approach is years of experience, child psychology theory and national frameworks. We believe that early childhood should not be rushed and that it is not just preparation for ‘big school’ but preparation for lifelong learning.
To see how this ethos is put in practise at St Mogue's, see the individual room pages from our curriculum page curriculum page.
Key person system
At St Mogue's, we use a key person system. This means one particular early years educator is assigned to your child and most of their interactions are with this person.
A key person system supports the individual needs and development of each child and ensures continuity of care between the home environment and the early years centre.
Further information on the key person system and how it works is available from the centre.
Play Based Curriculum
A play-based curriculum provides children with hands-on experiences in which they are actively constructing knowledge as they interact with the environment, their peers and adults.
See the curriculum page to learn how our play-based curriculum is delivered or look at how outdoor play benefits your child at St Mogue's.
Special Educational Needs
At St Mogue's we welcome all children and families and offer an inclusive
environment in which we endeavour to support your child's additional needs and
provide them with a mainstream experience of early education and care.
All of the early years practitioners currently working in the centre are
qualified in working with children with Special Educational Needs.
